the statement accessory

I like to pretend I’m an adult these days, and that means a lot of things I used to wear have been shoved to the bottom of the wardrobe. Deemed too jazzy for the new, grown-up me, bright colours, flamboyant patterns and bizarre hemlines have been left behind.

And then I bought these shoes, fell in love with this clutch, and the whole “grown-up” thing went a bit to pot…

I wrote about this clutch bag in my Asos Christmas Wishlist, and fortuitously, it ended up under the Christmas tree. Fluffy, multicoloured and hugely oversized, this is such a statement piece.

I kept my outfit fairly simple with these accessories, pairing leather culottes (£5 in the Topshop sale – dream!) with an oversized blush tee which is about a zillion years old.

These lace up sandals from Missguided were my Hallowe’en shoe, but I love how dramatic they look for nights out. They add a gothic, vampy edge to simple outfits, and offset the cutesy, fluffy nature of this clutch perfectly.
