christmas | the office ‘do

Almost Couture Manchester Fashion Blog

Janet from Accounts always gets a little bit too drunk, and Peter from IT pretends to look at photos of her cats whilst looking down her blouse; somebody inevitably threatens to use the photocopier inappropriately, but bottles out at the last minute; and there’s always someone who complains their vegetarian option has been mislaid in the kitchen but still eats the chicken anyway. It can only be one thing: the office ‘do.

My Christmas office party was held at Tatton Park, and was actually a beautiful affair. No throwing up under the boss’ desk here…

Horrendous lighting in my kitchen aside, these photos don’t really do justice to what is now my favourite dress of all time. I’ll admit that wearing red – when literally everybody else at this bloody thing was wearing black – made me feel a little (extremely) conspicuous, but three gins down and I stopped caring.

This dress hides a multitude of sins (fat arms? No thanks), and is such a beautiful shade of cherry-red. I didn’t want to look like Mrs Claus, so kept accessories as neutral as possible, with nude barely-there sandals and a blush Ted Baker zipped pouch as a clutch.

As per, extensions were from my go-to brand Dirty Looks, and I contoured (extremely heavily – perhaps a little too heavily) with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit.

Finishing off with statement gem earrings, I felt like this was the perfect festive-but-not-too-festive outfit for the Christmas party season.

  1. We didn’t have a party at my office. There’s only 6 of us, so we had a holiday luncheon yesterday. When I worked for a big mortgage company, they had a huge to-do that was semi-formal. It was like prom or something is was crazy. They rented out the conference rooms & stuff at a local upscale hotel and had a swing band in one room, a DJ in another area, a HUGE buffet… I’d never seen anything like it before or since.
