London has never been one of my favourite places, even though with my love of food and fashion, it really should be. With something new to explore on every corner, I can never really put my finger on why I’m not particularly keen on our beloved capital.
However: I went with Kaz for her birthday last weekend, and I’ve definitely started to come around to the idea of the city. As I don’t travel there often, it always seemed a little too crowded and chaotic; but now, as an adult with (slightly) more disposable income, it felt a touch more hospitable.
dinner | the chiltern firehouse
Kaz had pulled some strings and got us a table at The Chiltern Firehouse, supposedly one of the hottest new restaurants-slash-bars in London. (You’ve probably seen photos of Madonna flashing her nipples in there on The Daily Mail – it’s good for celeb-spotting and debauchery.)
I wore a jersey asymmetrical number from Missguided, which cost a whole £9 in the sale; I paired this with some amaaaazing pony hair sandals and a black leather clutch, both of which were Alexander McQueen from Coggles.

Makeup was kept fairly simple, with a darker-than-usual contour to compliment my tan. Lips were lined with Mac Whirl Lipliner – my absolute favourite! – and I wore my Dirty Looks (now Milk + Blush) extensions. (Also, can we take a moment to appreciate how absolutely awful the lighting is in this hotel. Seriously, these pictures look like I took them on a Nokia 3310.)
Food was beautiful – the steak was to die for – and the champagne and cocktails just kept flowing. An added bonus was catching sight of Emma Watson and (bizarrely) Dexter Fletcher – I’m basically an A-lister by association now…
sightseeing and shopping | Cartier
After a night of champagne and rich food, what better cure to perk yourself up the next day than shopping?

I despise feeling constricted or uncomfortable whilst shopping, so always opt for loose-fitting clothing (added bonus – quick to remove in changing rooms.) A jersey tee and high waisted jeans are simple yet on-trend – especially when paired with my coat-of-the-moment and these fabulous boots from Steve Madden.
I finished my second degree this summer, and managed to snag a Masters with Merit – honestly, everyone is sick of me going on about this, but I’m so happy about it – and Kaz decided to reward me whilst on Bond Street.
For a graduation gift, Kaz took me to Cartier and I picked out this drop-dead-gorgeous Love Ring in yellow gold. With the classic screw detail, this piece is so iconic!
It’s so utterly beautiful, I can barely bring myself to wear it. (I do though. Literally every waking moment, I stare at my hands in wonder.) The box has pride of place on my dressing table, and it’s quickly become my favourite piece of jewellery.

My weekend jaunt has definitely made me come around to London a lot more (not going to lie – copious amounts of champagne and trips to Cartier may have helped.) Perhaps one day, I could find myself living there…
