I had to be a grown up this year for Hallowe’en, and instead of eating Haribo in my pyjamas, I went out for a ‘couples diner’. Like a real adult.
I rarely wear a dark lip nowadays, as I find it a little high maintenance – I hate constantly checking to make sure it hasn’t smudged, the way it fades so quickly, and the mess it makes on glasses and crockery when you’re trying to be elegant. (I’m not elegant very often, so this isn’t too big of an issue).
However, for Hallowe’en, I felt a vampish lip was on the cards. I’m totally obsessed with this MAC Lipliner in Nightmoth, which is an almost-black-almost-purple. It did shift pretty quickly, unlike my other MAC staple liners (Whirl and Soar stay on forever), but I’ll forgive it as it’s so banging.
I went for a smokey copper eye with sparkle, so used MAC Red Brick Shadow on my crease, MAC Young Punk Shadow to blend, and the amazing MAC Copper Sparkle Pigment as the star of the show. To apply the Copper Sparkle, I use eyelash glue on my lid, let it get tacky, and pat on the glitter, but don’t tell anyone (MAC strongly advocate not using their glitters on your eyes, so please be careful!)
My outfit was insanely cheap. (Like, under £10 for the dress and coat.) My jacket was an amazing find in H&M sale for (wait for it) £3, and whilst it can tie at the waist, I prefer it loose and oversized.
My dress is a drop waist peplum number with cap sleeves which has been lurking at the back of my wardrobe for eternity. Originally meant for work, this was £5 from Matalan absolutely ages ago – I’m not an avid shopper there, but this is pretty plain and unoffensive, and looked fine under a statement jacket.
My shoes are my favourite new things ever from Missguided, and are super comfy and easy to wear. My Frilly Snakeskin Clutch from Vivienne Westwood was a present from The Boyfriend last Christmas – how cute is it!
As per, my hair extensions are from Dirty Looks – shade Espresso Brown. I’ve mixed 18″ and 22″ wefts here, so my hair’s a little longer than usual, which I quite liked for a night out.
cocktails and dinner
As I’m new to the Manchester area, I’m always on the lookout for new places for drinks and dinner. My colleagues recommeded Artisan in Spinningfields, which was adorable inside with delightful cocktails and super tasty tapas.
Also, if you go – I cannot recommend the cinnamon donuts with salted caramel dipping sauce enough. Yes, you get diabetes from the first bite, but they are insanelt delicious. Like sell-your-kids delicious.
