I love a good matte lip. As someone with a fairly thin, insipid pout, a matte lip gives me the illusion of a fuller, plumper mouth without resorting to the needle – what a dream!
However, I’ve noticed that my matte lip looks tend to be rather dark – my favourite colours to use are MAC Whirl and Soar – and also fairly drying, as I tend to solely use lip liner to get a seriously long-lasting colour. Whilst darker colours are great for the cooler months, I am starting to long for a peony-pink matte lip colour for a more low-key look.
Enter Collection’s Work the Colour Matt Lip Butter, in shade 01: Marshmallow Pink. A gorgeously creamy formula with serious staying power in a powdery, sugary pink shade, I am absolutely in love with this product!
This lip butter was an absolute bargain from Boots, retailing at only £2.99, and comes in a variety of muted matte shades. The packaging looks sleek and understated, with a secure cap and twist-up bottom.
This lip butter looks identical to loads of other fat lip pens available in drugstores nowadays, but I think for the price, it’s one of the best. I have a couple of other supposedly ‘matte’ lip butters, from brands such as Revlon and Seventeen, but none of them match up to this one.
The butter itself is lovely and thick – without being claggy – and beautifully matte, without being drying; in fact, it feels pretty moisturizing on the lips. I like to layer this over MAC Soar lipliner (or try Rimmel Spice lipliner for a drugstore dupe) to make sure it lasts all day long.
Get yourself down to your nearest Boots ASAP to pick up one of these babies (before I buy them all. Seriously).
